Therapy for Life Transitions

What are Life Transitions?

Life transitions are more than changes in circumstances. They are periods of adjustment that can impact your emotions, relationships, identity, routines, and overall sense of stability.

Even positive changes can bring uncertainty, stress, grief, or overwhelm. As one chapter of life ends and another begins, it is common to experience a mix of emotions while trying to navigate new responsibilities, expectations, and ways of being. Life transitions can challenge your sense of direction and require you to adapt to unfamiliar situations and roles.

Life Transitions I Help With

  • Relationship changes, breakups, and divorce.

  • Moving and relocation adjustments.

  • Parenthood and family transitions.

  • Career changes and professional growth.

  • Education changes and academic transitions.

  • Graduating or entering a new stage of life.

  • Loss, grief, and major life adjustments.

  • Identity exploration and personal growth.

At its core, navigating a life transition is often about learning to find stability within change. While transitions can feel uncertain and overwhelming, they also offer opportunities for growth, self-discovery, and creating a life that feels more aligned with who you are becoming.

Life Transition Treatment Approaches

My approach to supporting life transitions is holistic, collaborative, and tailored to each individual's unique experiences and needs. I integrate a strengths-based approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, Parts Work, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients navigate the emotional, relational, and nervous system challenges that often accompany periods of change. Together, we explore the thoughts, emotions, body sensations, relationship patterns, personal strengths, and different parts of self that may emerge during transitions while building greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. Whether you are navigating changes in relationships, career, education, parenthood, or identity, the goal is not simply to adapt to change, but to help you move through it with greater confidence, clarity, connection, and trust in yourself.
